Is it safe to let a voice assistant make payments?
5 things your users will ask before your voice assistant pays
If you're building a voice assistant, your users will ask these 5 things before they let it pay with their voice. Here's how we answer each one.
Can a recording of your voice buy something?
A recording of their voice can't buy anything. Every purchase they approve gets a new last word for their passphrase, tied to that exact amount. That word works once and expires within minutes.
Where does your voice go?
Their voiceprint stays on their device. The voiceprint is encrypted there and never stored on our servers, and your app never touches the audio either.
Can anyone else approve for you?
Nobody can approve for them. Their device checks the words, an independent verifier checks the voice, and we only pay when both agree. Not your agent, and not us.
Does it work on a busy street?
Voice works on a busy street. Voice listens to the person speaking, not the room. With headphones on they never look at a screen, and an approval takes about two or three seconds.
Do you have to approve every coffee?
They don't have to approve every coffee. Small purchases can go through on their own within a monthly budget, like under $20 and up to $150 a month. Changing a rule takes their voice too.
And when they can't talk, they approve with a passkey or Face ID instead.
